Prior to becoming an actor she started her modeling career as a young model. Her nomination for the Theatre World Award for "one of the most promising actors 1956-2005" for her part in The Potting Shed. Her film career began in 1958 when she appeared in the Disney movie The Light in the Forest. Holiday for Lovers (1959), Blue Denim (1959) followed. In 1959 she was nominated to win the Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer - Female for the film The Light in the Forest. The following year, she was again nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer Female for the film Blue Denim.
